Employee Wellness: One of the Healthiest Investments An Employer Can Make

Why Employee Wellness?

Here are six reasons why University of Rochester—as well as many other leading organizations across the nation—actively promotes wellness to its employees:

  1. Employees who participate in wellness programs enjoy an enhanced quality of life.

  2. People typically spend most of their waking hours at work. As a result, the worksite is the place where they can most readily be reached with programs that support a healthy lifestyle.

  3. Employees who participate in worksite wellness programs tend to enjoy their jobs more.

  4. Healthier employees often are more successful at their jobs.

  5. Organizations that invest in a healthy workforce are modeling a proactiveHealth Employee Drinking Water approach to wellness for other organizations, for the community, and for individuals.

  6. Properly planned employee wellness programs can save more money than they cost.

Well Told
(your success story here)

"I was a pack-a-day smoker for twenty of the last twenty-two years.  I was always aware of the negative impact smoking had on my health, on my wallet, and on my quality of life.  I quit or tried to quit dozens of times.
Fortunately for smokers and their spouses at the University, Well U offers a smoking cessation program.  Quitting smoking was not something that I could do on my own.  Dozens of failed attempts attest to that.  With the guidance of the Well U staff, and with the support of my peers also enrolled in the Quitting Time program, I was able to set a quit date, plan a strategy for coping with withdrawal, and face my smoke-free future with a positive attitude.

With the help of the Quitting Time program I am proud to say that I have been free of nicotine for 116 days.  My blood pressure has decreased.  My cardio-vascular system is recovering.  I am less irritable.  I am more productive at home and at work.  I am proud of my accomplishment, but I know that this addiction is something that I will have to battle for the rest of my life.  I also know that if I need support, Well U will be there for me.

Thank you, Well U!"

It can be about getting more fit, eating more healthfully, weight loss, reducing stress, balancing work and family...the sky's the limit! Whatever has helped you will help others!
