Health Insurance for Accelerated Bachelor’s Program
As a full-time student at the University of Rochester, you will be participating in the comprehensive student health plan offered by the University Health Service (UHS). The health plan includes the mandatory health fee and health insurance.
Your coverage will include:If you have a spouse and/or children, UHS offers two health insurance options:
- Mandatory Health Fee - This fee is paid by all full-time students. The fee covers the cost of visits to the University Health Service (UHS) and the University Counseling Center (UCC). The cost is $48/month until August 31. Beginning September 1, the fee will be $50/month.
- Health Insurance – In addition to the mandatory health fee, all full-time students must have health insurance. You can enroll in the Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) insurance offered through UHS, or you can remain on your own, your parent’s, or your spouse’s health insurance. The cost for the BCBS insurance plan is $90/month until August 31. Beginning September 1, the fee will be $94/month.
Selecting your Health Insurance: Complete the online Health Insurance Selection Process. The link is also located in the pink box in the left column on the UHS home page. You will need your Net ID and password to complete the process. Once you enter your information, your selection will be submitted electronically to the appropriate offices.
- If you are married and have no children – You can enroll in two individual Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) plans (one for you and one for your spouse). You both also pay the health fee, which covers visits to the University Health Service and the University Counseling Center. The BCBS Summary of Benefits provides a list of the benefits covered by this plan.
- If you have one or more dependent children – The University Health Service offers the University High Deductible Plan. This plan provides coverage for you, your spouse, and your dependent child(ren). Information about the University High Deductible plan is available in Insurance for Families.
Please note: You need to complete the Health Insurance Selection Process twice. First, you will select your insurance for the summer months by completing the Health Insurance Selection Process for 2007-08. You will then need to complete the 2008-09 Selection Process for your coverage beginning September 1. The mandatory health fee and BCBS insurance (if selected) will be billed by the Bursar on your tuition bill.
