University Academic Calendar, 2007-2015

The University Academic Calendar is approved through the 2014-2015 academic year.

Please note that Fall Break dates in 2010 and beyond are subject to change depending on the scheduling of Meliora weekend in those years.

Questions about the Academic Calendar should be directed to .

Academic Leave

Faculty members may request up to one year of academic leave to pursue research interests. Faculty requesting leave need to provide a written justification of the leave and obtain his or her school dean's signature on Form 212. The faculty must submit the form and written justification to the Provost for final approval. Faculty members may request full salary for a 1/2-year, or 50% salary for a full year (minus any outside support). See Section IV.E. of the Faculty Handbook for more information about Leaves.

Bridging Fellowships

Bridging Fellowships allow faculty to spend a semester in a department other than his or her own. The Fellowship should benefit the faculty member, the departments, and the University. The dean or director's office of each school generally solicits applications once a year. Additional information is available in Section IV.E of the Faculty Handbook. Faculty Handbook

The Faculty Handbook sets forth policies, procedures, and information that, by common consent, are those governing the University faculty as a whole.

The Faculty Handbook last underwent major revisions in July 2002. A memo describing those revisions, along with updated pages, was sent to faculty members before the beginning of the fall 2002 semester.

Additional revisions were approved by the Faculty Senate in February 2007 and were added to the Handbook in February 2007 (new material added) and July 2008 (outdated section deleted).
