"Sponsored Taxi Service"

The University of Rochester Sponsored Taxi Service provides a safe, reliable service for ALL University Community.

This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The ride is limited to (5) five tickets per person/per ride. If you wish to go further, you will be required to pay additional cab fare; in addition for more than one passenger per ride, you will be required to pay the NYS Travel charge of $1.50 per person and $2.50 per person service charge for airport runs. This is a non-avoidable fee.

Sponsored Taxi Service can be used for doctor’s appointments (UHS, Clinton Crossing Complex, CRVI and Highland Hospital), travel to and from the Eastman School of Music, to the River Campus/Medical Center. Students may also use the Sponsored Taxi Service to an OFF campus location, and to and from the airport, train and bus station.

(All Taxi Service to the Greater Rochester International Airport will incur a surcharge of $2.50. This is an unavoidable tax.)

The University of Rochester Sponsored Taxi Service program is NOT designed to provide daily alternative means of transportation to and from work for employees; however this program is designed to be used for employees for EMERGENCY RIDE HOME ONLY!

HOW the UR Sponsored Taxi Service works:

To use the “Sponsored Taxi Service” you must purchase your ticket(s) in advance.
Call 4-A-CAB (42222) OR (585) 235-7777
Inform the Dispatcher that you want to use UR Sponsored Taxi Service ticket(s). If you do not inform the dispatcher you will pay the full fair.
Inform the dispatcher where you are located for pickup.

WHEN the TAXI arrives:

You must show your current UR identification or you will be refused transportation, or asked to pay the fair in full.
After you arrive at your destination, give the Sponsored Taxi Service tickets to the driver.
You must sign the receipt.

Examples of the "Sponsored Taxi Service"

If a student leaves: UR Clinton Crossing Complex (2400 Clinton Avenue South) and goes to UR Eastman Student Living Center (26 Gibbs Street), the total mileage is 3.75 miles. Number of tickets you need to purchase for this ride: 2 on a one-way and 4 on a round trip.

If a student leaves: UR River Campus Rush Rhees Library (201 Wilson Commons) going to REGAL Cinemas Henrietta (525 Marketplace Drive), the total mileage is 5.07 miles. Number of tickets you need to purchase for this ride: 3 on a one-way and 6 on a round trip.
