The role of information technology (IT) across higher education and health care is undergoing a major shift. No longer regarded as a tactical resource, IT has turned into a strategic asset that can be leveraged to achieve transformational results. The mission of IT at the University of Rochester is to foster a coordinated environment where information technology is tightly aligned with the University mission.

As the primary center for University-wide IT initiatives, the Office of the CIO engages and collaborates with colleagues to ensure that IT strategy and programs are architected and aligned with the institution's missions of teaching, research, patient care, performance, and community service.

The senior leaders reporting to the Vice Provost for Information Technology are:
