Peter A. Stranges '41
At Rochester:
- Participated in three seasons of football and baseball
- Quarterback on offense (captain in his senior year) and one of the top tacklers on
defense
- Catcher for the baseball team which compiled the best three-year record ever on the
River Campus
- Honorable Mention Little All-America by Associated Press for football
- Recipient of the Gordon Wallace Trophy in 1940
Post-Graduate:
- Two years with General Motors Corporation
- Was an assistant freshman football coach at Rochester
- Graduate courses in aeronautical engineering (September, 1943-January, 1944) at Cal Tech
- Received a master's degree in engineering from Yale in 1950
- One of five Naval officers who planned and directed development of aircraft gas turbine
(jet) engine for use by Navy's carrier-based flight aircraft (in World War II)
- Retired in 1984 after 23 years with United Technologies Corporation in the Washington,
D.C. area
- Passed away December, 2002
