Paul Bitgood
- Highly successful UR coach leading Yellowjackets to banner years in track, golf, and football
- The "Man from CT" played football in high school and college ball at UConn (BS in Entomology), and Springfield (MS in Physical Education)
- Chosen All-New England at guard
- Started coaching in 1927
- Joined UR in 1936 and coached UR's nationally-ranked track teams with five National Championships in five appearances (1- and 2-mile
relays)
- Athletic Director and football at Medina High School in 1945
- Sampson College Naval Base track and football coach
- Returned to UR as legendary "line builder" to Coach Elmer Burnham during UR's "Golden Years of Football" boasting a 57-22 record
(1951-60) and 1958 undefeated seasonoutscoring opponents 257 to 19
- Lead varsity golf team to an impressive 44-5 record in five seasons and a 1957 undefeated season
- Retired in 1963 as Yellowjackets' head football coach
