Three University of Rochester women were selected for weekly honors after the tri-meet with NYU and Case Western Reserve. Val Atwood and Corinne Lampe received Liberty League recognition while Sara Spielman was honored by the University Athletic Association.
Junior swimmer Val Atwood has been selected by the Liberty League as the co-swimmer of the week for the week ending November 2, 2009.
In a three-team meet at Rochester, Atwood won the 100 backstroke (1:01.47) and the 200 backstroke (2:15.76), and swam leadoff on two winning relays (200 medley - 1:53.08; 200 freestyle - 1:41.47). She swam on the 400 medley which was second (4:09.56) and the 400 freestyle which was third (3:47.33).
Freshman swimmer Corinne Lampe has been selected by the Liberty League as the co-rookie of the week for the week ending November 2, 2009.
Lampe swam to a second place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:27.39) and a third place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:02.13), was third in the 400 IM (4:53.56) and fourth in the 200 fly (2:18.41). She also swam on the runnerup 800 free relay (8:15.38) and the 400 free relay (3:47.33) which was third. Rochester split a three-team meet vs. NYU and Case.
Freshman diver Sara Spielman has been selected by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as the women’s swimming and diving athlete of the week for the week ending November 2, 2009.
She posted a second-place finish on the one-meter board with a score of 204.75 and finished third on the three-meter board (209.00) at a three-team meet Friday. Rochester split the meet with a 243-144 victory over Case Western Reserve University and a 249-5-139.5 loss to New York University.
