Rochester split a pair of lengthy matches at the Vassar College volleyball tournament on Friday evening. In the opening match, Vassar rallied to defeat Rochester, 14-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-16, 15-13. Rochester defeated Stevens Institute, 3-2, in the second match of the evening. The Yellowjackets won, 33-31, 16-25, 27-25, 15-25, 15-10.
In the match vs. Vassar, Rachel Bender compiled 46 assists and four aces. Alma Guevara had 16 kills and 18 digs. Kelly Mulrey had 13 kills and 26 digs. Lauren Bujnicki had 21 digs, Casey Larsen had nine kills, and Katie Kao had two blocks.
Guevara and Mulrey combined for 44 kills in the victory over Stevens. Guevara had 27 kills and tacked on 22 digs. Mulrey had 17 kills. Bender had 41 assists and three aces. Bujnicki had 27 digs, and Kao had three blocks.
Rochester is 15-16. The Yellowjackets play Fredonia at noon and Sage College at 2 pm. The final home match of the season is scheduled for Tuesday – senior night vs. St. John Fisher.
