ACCESS Rochester:
A Resource Guide for Students, Faculty, and Staff

The University of Rochester is a pluralistic community, one that values the contributions of our diverse population. People with disabilities are an essential part of the University community, bringing a broad spectrum of talent and achievement to our endeavors. We believe in and respect the capacity of individuals to learn, grow, and achieve in different ways. In recognition of this, the University has developed a variety of services and offices with responsibility for ensuring a system and a culture that fosters opportunity and achievement for individuals with disabilities.

This Resource Guide contains valuable information about the variety of resources available throughout the University, from the River Campus, to the Medical Center, the Memorial Art Gallery, and the Eastman School of Music to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities at the University. The Introduction and University Resources sections are applicable to all members of the University community. Information specific to students is included in the Classroom Accommodations section. Information specific to faculty and staff is included in the Workplace Accommodations section. It was developed to serve as a useful tool to address the needs of staff and faculty with disabilities and to assist their supervisors with the process.

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these resources. Whether you are an undergraduate student of The College, a graduate student in one of our graduate degree programs on the River Campus or at the Medical Center, a member of the faculty or staff, or a visitor to our campus, we want this guide to serve your needs. If there are improvements you would like to suggest for future editions of the Resource Guide, please contact 275-9125 or
