Use of Off Campus VendorsThe use of non-University vendors to create Web sites is permissible, but all vendors should be under contract as defined by Purchasing. When using an off-campus vendor to build or administer a site, the department's Web site author or webmaster is responsible for insuring that the vendor follows University policy, including ADA guidelines. ADA compliance must be part of any contract for Web services. When working with an outside vendor, it is recommended that site authors consider the ongoing maintenance needs of the site when reviewing a vendor proposal. Sites with complex programming and elaborate layouts can be costly to modify. Web publishers should be sure to understand the skills required if they plan to update and maintain the site themselves. For security reasons, contractor access must be terminated as soon as the contract is complete. Please contact the University Web Coordinator to terminate access for outside vendors.
