Definitions

"Information Providers" are the individuals responsible for their own particular Web sites throughout the University. Also referred to as "Web publishers," or "Web site authors."

"Webmasters" are those with some "centralized" technical and content responsibility for the structure and maintenance of pages within their respective servers, working closely with the more technically focused "server administrators" throughout the University. Some webmaster and server administrator functions may be conducted by the same individual.

"Web Advisory Committee" is composed of individuals with authority for substantial department or divisional Web sites. The committee discusses "best practices" and similar issues.

"University Web Group" is a core group serving as a point of coordination for University Web activities, and reviewing or establishing University Web policies as needed.

"University Webmaster" is the University Web Coordinator and is the senior webmaster who coordinates the activities of the Web community and provides the central server and central support services.
