Faculty Handbook Page

The Faculty Handbook is currently under revision. There are online editions of the old (1995) handbook and of the revisions proposed by the Provost's Office in April, 1998. The latter includes a memo from the Provost describing the proposed revisions. Comments and suggestions may be sent to handbook@admin.rochester.edu. or to Box 16, Administration Building. Annotated lists of revisions were posted in September and November.
The current timetable for revisions calls for consideration by various faculty committees in the fall of 1998, with final consideration by the Senate in December, and presentation to the Board of Trustees in February, 1999. See also the Provost's memo of May 11. This page will be revised from time to time as these discussions progress.
The handbook was discussed by the Senate in its meetings of April and May, 1998. Please consult the minutes of those meetings (password required) for details.
Dean LeBlanc has appointed a College Handbook Committee to continue these discussions and to solicit further input from faculty. It is chaired by Joanna Olmsted OLMJ@db1.cc.rochester.edu, and the other members are:

Some revisions were were proposed by the University Committee on Tenure and Privileges, chaired by David Bleich, to the Faculty Senate on October 20, 1998.
Some revisions were were proposed by the by the Senate Academic Affairs Committee, chaired by Udo Fehn, on November 25, 1998.
There has been some discussion of the handbook in the ur-forum.
